Biographical Sketch:
Of Scottish ancestry. Son of John and Isabella (Witherson or Matheson) Kerr. He came to Michigan as a child, settling in Lake Linden. Admitted to the bar in July 1895. He served as city attorney of Calumet, and circuit court commissioner of Houghton County. In the Spanish-American War he served with company D, 34th regiment of Michigan volunteers from the time of its muster into the service of the United States until it was mustered out, being assigned to recruiting duty.
