Biographical Sketch:
He was of Dutch ancestry; born in a log house, he was the son of Benjamin [or Berend] and Henrietta [or Hendrikje] (Brinkman) Lugers. He taught school for 17 years. He served as Supervisor of Laketown and of Holland Township, Ottawa County, MI. He also held the offices of Township Clerk, School Inspector and Justice of the Peace. He was bookkeeper for 5 years and afterwards bought an interest in the lumber business known as the Scott-Lugers Lumber Company of which he was either secretary or manager. He was also a school director and an elder in the reformed church.
