Biographical Sketch:
Son of a school teacher, James and Anna (Walker) Murphy. . Emigrated with his father to London Twp, Ontario at age 12. Moved to Greenleaf Twp, Sanilac Co., MI, 1866; elected township supervisor, 1875, serving for 9 years; 1884 & 1886, elected Sanilac County treasurer. Moved to the Sanilac Center area and bought a farm, 1892. He served as supervisor of Watertown Township 4 years and twice representing the county of Sanilac on the state board of equalization. Sold his farm to his son when he retired to Sanilac Center.
