Biographical Sketch:
Son of a Baptist minister William and Martha Pack. He became a prominent Democratic Party campaign manager in Saint Joseph County. He served as postmaster of Centerville. He served in the 33rd Regiment of the Michigan Volunteers during the Spanish American War and went to Cuba as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was slightly wound 7/1/1898. He was appointed the first civil governor of the mountain provinces of the new Philippine republic [12 years]. He introduced baseball to the natives as an alternative to head hunting. When he retired from that post, he went to Cuba and became a citrus grower until he moved to Florida in 1933.
