Biographical Sketch:
Son of Jesse and Mary Wadhams.His family moved to Leicester, NY when he was young. He became a clerk in a store. He moved to Detroit in 1823 and was a member of the firm of Reese & Wadhams, general merchants, for several years. He was involved with steamboat and overland freighting while in Detroit. When he acquired a tract of pine on Black River, he began lumbering. In 1929, he moved to Saint Clair County, building the first grist mill there in 1830. He served as supervisor of Desmond Township, in 1832. He was postmaster of Clyde Mills from about 1838-74. Later in life he turned to farming and cattle raising.
