Settled in Orion, Oakland Co., MI, 1825; as leader of a group of emigres to Michigan they named their area "Decker settlement"; in 1831 he purchased land in Brandon and was Brandon's first postmaster. He had a tavern in 1830. He served as justice of the peace 1836-37, 1845; township supervisor 1836, 1841-42, 1844-45, 1847, 1853-54;
