Son of Luther and Lucinda (Horton) Burt. Moved with parents to Jackson County in 1839. President of the Home National Bank (13 years). President of the Michigan Salt Association (14 years) Took 3-year trip to Central and South America and Australia before settling in Saginaw and the lumber business. Mayor of East Saginaw, 1867-68. He was a widower in 1910.
