Biographical Sketch:
Located to Coventry, CT in 1856. He began teaching at 17. He was admitted to the bar in Grand Rapids, then moved to Mount Pleasant in fall, 1872. He served on the board of education; school board of trustees; village trustee; village attorney; superintendent of schools; town clerk and justice of the peace; county prosecutor, Isabella County, 1875-76. Chair of Isabella County Republican Party, 1878-84. Alternate delegate to Republican National Convention from Michigan, 1884. Alternate delegate to Democratic National Convention from Michigan, 1900. He was president of the Union School Board of Trustees for his village.
