Biographical Sketch:
Son of Albert and Anna Zak, Austrian immigrants. He was mayor of Hamtramck 1952-1963, 1974-1975. He also served as city clerk. He was a member of Wayne County Board of Commissioners and Civil Service Commission. Member of the Catholic Youth Organization, St. Florian's Ushers Club, St. Florian's Young Men, Polish National Alliance, Z.P.R.K., Guardian Angel Home, St. Florian Holy Name Society, Hamtramck Goodfellows.

Notable Facts:
Hamtramck Public Library dedicated as Albert J. Zak Memorial 6/19/1975. Died in office in 1975. According to HR 53, 1975 House Journal, p. 478 he had died. No date or place of death. However, prior entry in data base indicated that he died 2/25/1975 in Hamtramck. Michigan Deaths 1971-1996 says he died in Detroit but lived in Hamtramck
