He was publisher of the Ingham County News in Mason and served on committees of the Michigan Press Association. He was director of the Dart National Bank and was president of the Mason Kiwanis Club. He founded the scholarship for MSU State News students. He was a former chairman, Ingham County Republican Committee; delegate, National GOP Convention, 1968; past president, Michigan Press Association; past president, Kiwanis Club; member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Marine Corps League.
