Biographical Sketch:
He was a member of United Church of Christ; the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan; Scottish Rite-Valley of Grand Rapids, Masonic Order; Saladin Temple (Shrine); Elks; Kiwanis Club; Chamber of Commerce; Traverse City Industrial Fund. After leaving office, Dively served from 1978-88 as the first director of the Gerald R. Ford Institute for Public Policy and Service at Albion College. In 1983, he created the Mukti Fund which focused its grant-making exclusively on the Caribbean nation of St. Kitts and Nevis. He was also involved in programs dedicated to preserving the natural habitat of Florida. From 1986-94, he was a Trustee of Hiram College in Ohio. In 1993, he was president and secretary of the George S. Dively Foundation and moved the foundation to Key West in 1994.

Son of George Samuel Dively, founder of the George S. Dively Foundation and Harriet Seeds Dively. The George S. Dively Foundation was established in Cleveland in 1956 and recognizes corporate efforts in urban development. Elected unopposed 1968.
