Youngest of 12 children of Dutch immigrants, Lane & Barbara De Stigter. Served in the U.S. Army in Japan. Settled in Hudsonville, MI after marriage. High school teacher & coach for 10 yrs.; former member, Hudonsville City Commission, 5 years; 14 yrs as a representative; 18 yrs as administrator & parliamentarian for the Mich. House. Died of cancer.
