Son of Alfred and Carrie (Cochran)Folks. He worked briefly as a road builder before turning to farming. He served as supervisor of the Spring Arbor Township for 29 years, 1930-59. He chaired the county Board of Commissioners and as member of the Jackson County Allocation Board. Member of Masons, Lions, Farm Bureau and Child Guidance Clinic.
Died at Tendercare Nursing Home at the age of 103 years, 93 days old.
