Biographical Sketch:
Son of Timothy Leo and Norma Alicia (Ullmer) Kildee. Teacher at University of Detroit High School, 1954-1956, & Flint Central High School, 1956-1964. Member National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (life), Am. Federation Teachers, Urban League, Knights of Columbus, Optimists, and Phi Delta Kappa.
Notable Facts:
Elected to the 95th & to succeeding Congresses 1977-present. Senior member education and the workforce committee, ranking minority member subcom. on early childhood, youth, & families; chair Congl. Auto Caucus, 1993—; co-chair Native Am. Caucus, 1997; member resources committee; member education and the workforce committee. Announced his retirement in July, 2011 and did not seek re-election in 2012.
