Son of Harvey and Elizabeth (Likins) Hawley. Moved to Kent County April, 1854 and to Keene Township in Ionia Co.in November. He served as highway commissioner, justice of the peace and supervisor [3 terms]. He was a director of the Farmers' Mutual Fire Insurance Co. of Ionia County.
