Biographical Sketch:
Son of Charles and Phebe A. (Leech) Whitney. Until 1880 he was a farmer and grew fruit near Utica, MI. He moved to Detroit and spent 3 years in the mercantile business. In 1883, he bought a farm in Fruitport Township, Muskegon Co. and returned to farming and fruit cultivation. He served as township treasurer, school inspector, and member of the board of review. He was an active member of the Muskegon County Horticultural Society, and was secretary of the Muskegon Farmers' Institute Society for the years of 1895-6. At the time of his death he was selling insurance and real estate with the Chaddock Agency.
