attended rural schools, Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw and the International Business College in 1892.

Biographical Sketch:
Son of William and Mary (McKellar) Hackett; Grandson of Bernard Hackett. He worked for the Flint and Pere Marquette Railroad for 12 years, until 1905 when he began farming. In 1912, his father died and he took over management of the families 700 acre farm. Active in the organization of the Saginaw County Farm Bureau and served one term as secretary. He was the school director for his district for over 10 years and active with the Saginaw Fair and the state Grange. He was Saginaw County Hospital's engineer from its opening until his retirement in 1956.
