Biographical Sketch:
Daughter of Leander and Lucy Jane (Bennet)Hall. In 1903, she & her husband bought the "Grand River View Farm" northwest of Lansing. She was editor of the official paper of the State Grange, "The Michigan Patron", for 5 years, and conducted the Home Economics department of the paper. She was an advisory member of the U.S. Children's Bureau, secretary of the National Rural Home Conference, the Michigan State Educational Advisory Committee, a member of the White House Children's Conference during the Hoover administration, the Children of Democracy conference and Women's Christian Temperance Union. Elected to the state board of agriculture in 1919 and 1925.She was born in a log cabin. She is the author of 3 books and many songs. She is a lecturer on agricultural subjects and was elected the state of Michigan State Grange lecturer in 1914 and still held that position in 1941.

Notable Facts:
The first woman to hold an elected office in Michigan. The first woman in the United States to serve on the board of a Land Grant College. Introduced legislation that resulted in the Michigan Medical Insurance Program, the first of its kind in the nation. Dry candidate for delegate to Michigan convention to ratify 21st amendment from Ingham County 2nd District, 1933. Died in 1948 in California.
