Biographical Sketch:
Son of Horace T. and Sophia Jane (Abbey). His family settled Cape Cod in colonial times. His family moved to Kent County when he was 5. His father was a minister. He began practicing law in 1903 in partnership with Judge Clark H. Higbee. He served as school inspector, Gaines Township clerk and supervisor. Member of the Masons; Knights of Pythias; the Bards and the Optimists Club. Member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association and the State Bar.
