Returned to Sturgis as contractor and builder, 1864. Served as village clerk and village president of Sturgis and as member of library board. Director of Citizens' State Bank and president of Michigan Retail Lumber Dealers' Association. Member, Michigan house of representatives from St. Joseph County, 1895-96. Elected mayor of Sturgis, 1899.
