Biographical Sketch:
Located in Waukesha, WI, 1854. After his father's death, he in 1861 went to work in a country store. Enlisted in Company F, 1st Wisconsin Cavalry, 8/27/1862. Mustered out 7/19/1865 as first lieutenant. Located in New York, NY, in book and stationery business, 1865-68. Moved to Pierport, Manistee County, MI, 1868. He operated a sawmill, gristmill and general store there; as well as in a wood and shipping business. Served as justice of the peace, school director and Onekama Township supervisor. Ran for state House of Representatives, 1892. Member, Michigan House of Representatives Manistee County, 1895-98.
