    Enlisted in Company I, 1st Michigan Engineers and Mechanics, 1863.  Sailed on Great Lakes, 1865-72.  Settled in Algonac as insurance and pension attorney, 1872.  Served as supervisor, justice of the peace and deputy collector of customs (1880-90).  Served as principal lighthouse keeper, St. Clair Flats Ship Canal, 1878-80.  Member, Michigan House of Representatives, 1895-96.
    Notable Facts: 
    Participated in campaign from Chattanooga to Atlanta and Sherman's march to the Atlantic.  Present at the surrender of Johnston's army at Raleigh and the grand review of Sherman's Army at Washington, DC, 5/24/1865.  Member, Maccabees and Masons.
