Biographical Sketch:
Son of English parents John and Hannah (Thompson) Sherwood. Farmed until age 24, when he engaged in the wholesale and retail of groceries and liquors; married in 1869; continued in the mercantile business until 1882, when he moved to St. Ignace, where he engaged in the hotel business. Built Sherwood Hotel, 1888. Served as alderman and mayor of St. Ignace. Moved to Washington state. He was a hotel proprietor in 1930 in Bellington , WA
