Senior partner of Vandengerg Oil Company which he organized in 1919 and sold in 1946. Died in 1971. According to Senate Resolution No. 90 and Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 113, p. 1129. 1971 Senate Journal he died 6/9/71.

Served in MI senate from 1945-50 & as Lt. Governor 1951-52. Rotary club member According to Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 113, p. 1129 he died 6/9/1971. No place indicated. According to the Detroit News, 6/11/1971 he suffered a heart attack at his home and was dead upon arrival at the Holland Hospital.
