Biographical Sketch:
Son of David C. Simons. He was instructor in oratory at the University of Michigan in 1899-1900. He began practicing law in Detroit around 1900. He was known as the boy orator when he got his law degree. After leaving the legislature, he was a member of the a Wayne County Circuit Court Commissioner for 2 years. He was a US attorney when he was appointed to the district court in 1923 by President Harding. He became a member of the 6th Circuit Court in 1932, and chief justice of the court in 1952, becoming semi retired in 1959.
