Biographical Sketch:
Son of William and Lotta B. Espie. Born on the farm where his grandparents settled in 1836. In 1909, moved to a farm in Eagle Township, Clinton County.
Served 10 years as supervisor of his township. He also served as director of Farmers' Elevator Co., of Grand Ledge; director of Clinton County Agricultural Association and director of Clinton and Gratiot County Farmers' Mutual Fire Insurance Company; Director of Michigan Mutual Hall Insurance Company & the Grand Ledge Co-operative society. Member of the Masons and IOOF, Grange, and Farm Bureau.

Died in office in 1949.
According to HCR3, 1950 House Journal, p.24, he died 12/2/1949.
Appointed by Gov. Van Wagoner as member of the school study commission & by Gov. Kelly as member of the tax study commission.
