He moved from New York state to Adrian, MI by 1831. He libed in Adrian for several years before becoming a resident of Medina. In 1839, he was ordained to the ministry of the Baptist church. He served as a half-time pastor at the Baptist Church of Hudson in 1845.
He also had a milling business.
