Son of John Donald MacKinnon and Agnes (Kirk) Mackinnon.
Of Scotch ancestry. Parents moved to Bay City when he was an infant. Left school at age 16 to learn the machinist's trade. He engaged in the manufacturing business for twenty years, being associated with his father until his retirement, and than with his brother. Has served his city as alderman and commissioner.Member of Masons & Elks.
