Biographical Sketch:
Son of Henry Purinton and Emily (Wilson) Atwood. Lived in Caro, Tuscola Co., MI. Prosecuting attorney for 4 terms. Served on the Commissioner of Railroads, 1903-1907. He maintained a farm while pursuing other interests. After leaving office, he, with his son, began construction of the M.U.T electric line from Lansing to Jackson and Owosso. The line was completed in 1912.
Notable Facts:
One of the 'Immortal Nineteen" who opposed Gov. Pingree. Believed in a strong party 'machine.' Delegate to the constitutional convention of 1907-08.
Died of pneumonia following appendicitis. He was a banker at the time of his death according to his death certificate.
