Biographical Sketch:
Son of Joseph Walworth and Rebecca W. (Richardson) Collingwood. At the age of 14 entered the publishing house of James R. Osgood & Co. He went to Colorado in 1878 but returned to attend college briefly before going to Utah and California for 2 years where he worked at civil engineering and other occupations, earning money to return to college. After graduation he taught school at Pewamo and Howard City, where he also studied law. In 1888, he was appointed adjunct professor of chemistry in the University of Arkansas, and went from there to Tucson, Arizona, as chemist in the new university of that state. He returned to Lansing in 1894, was admitted to the bar, and practiced law. He was appointed city attorney in 1897

Notable Facts:
Ingham County Circuit Judge for over 25 years. Left that office in 1935. Died of heart attack at age 76.
