    Biographical Sketch: 
    Son of Jonathan Chauncey and Mary E. (Conn) Giddings.  Moved to Ohio as a child. He came to St. Louis, MI, with his parents in 1866. He was deputy U.S marshal during same period as under sheriff. He was under sheriff of Gratiot county from January 1, 1873 to January 1,1877. Began the practice of law at St. Louis in January 1877.   He served as city attorney, and member of the common council of the city of St. Louis.  He was at one time connected with the First National Bank of St. Louis, and one of its board of directors.
