Biographical Sketch:
Son of Stephen and Elia A. (Thompson) Moore. He grew up in the Port Huron and Hersy areas. Son of farmers, at 18, he found employment rolling and scaling logs for a mill in Muskegon. In the summer of 1878, with a partner, he went into business for himself putting in logs for the company he had been working for; in 1881 they moved their trade to Missaukee Co. he bought his partner out in 1885. In 1889, he sold his the company and returned to Saint Clair township to farm. In 1889, he and his brother organized a bank in Capac; in 1890 he organized the Saint Clair County Savings Bank of Port Huron and served as the cashier. In 1898, the brothers opened a private bank in Marine City. He served as supervisor and chairman of the board in Missaukee Co from 1884-88. In the 1900 and 1910 censuses, he was a bank director and state banking commissioner for 4 years. He moved to Oregon in 1910 and was head of the Moore Mill and Lumber Co. with a sawmill and logging operation in Bandon, OR. He became president of the Petaluma Box Corp.
