Located in Hartford, 1882. Delegate to Republican National Convention, 1892. Member, Michigan Senate, 1895-98. Served on Jackson State Prison board of control. Member of Republican State Central Committee, 1907. Delegate to Republican National Convention, 1916. He had interests in hardwood lumber manufacture in the UP and operated several sawmills in southwestern Michigan with headquarters in Hartford. Member of the Masons, Oddfellows, Elks and Maccabees.
