Of German ancestry. Son of Phillip John and Catherine Elizabeth (Hoffman) Eichhorn. He was in the post office at Port Huron 12 years, deputy collector of customs 4 years, and grocery business 3 years. He engaged in the hotel business 12 years and was proprietor of the Union hotel at Port Huron. He ass director of the First National Exchange Bank and of the Port Huron Building & Loan Association, and president of the M. and M. Association at Port Huron. He was clerk for the Michigan Auditor General at the time of his death.
