Biographical Sketch:
Son of Dexter Mason and Addie Elizabeth (Miller) Ferry.After graduation, he worked for several companies including: treasurer of D.M. Ferry & Co.; treasurer of American Harrow Co.; treasurer for the National Pin Co.; director of the First National Bank and Wayne County Savings Bank of Detroit. Appointed to the State Board of Education in 1906, to fill a vacancy, then elected for a full term. Served on the Grosse Pointe Village and City Council for 30 years. Member of the S.A.R.; Detroit Club, Detroit Athletic Club and others. President of the Detroit institutes of Art Founders Society for many years.
Notable Facts:
The site of Northwestern High School was once part of the Ferry farm. Land adjacent to the school was donated to the city by the family.
Donated Ferry Field to the University of Michigan as well as other buildings.
