Biographical Sketch:
Of Scottish and English descent. Son of George Butler and Mary [or Polly] (White) Halladay. He moved to New York at 21, working as a farm hand for 2 years. He then moved to Sherman Township, Osceola Co., MI. In 1872, he and his father went into business in Ashton, forming George Halladay & Sons. This partnership lasted 15 years. Frayer then succeeded his father for 11 years on his own. He operated a sawmill for 15 years. He later formed a full business in Grand Rapids with W.J. Breen. He had large real estate holdings. He was president of the Michigan Exchange Private Bank He served as township supervisor and treasurer for several years. He was also a postmaster. Member of the Odd Fellows
