Biographical Sketch:
He was of Scotch and Dutch descent, the son of Barney and Elizabeth (Spicer) Lovell He enlisted June 12, 1861, in Co. B, 9th Mich. Infantry, and served with his regiment until July 13, 1862, when he was taken prisoner at Murfreesboro, TN. On being exchanged he was transferred to the 7th Mich. Cavalry, and was promoted to Sergeant. He was mustered out August 25th, 1865. After prospecting in the Northwest part of the country he settled in Berrien County where he engaged in farming and manufacturing. Member of the G.A.R. and the Elks
