Biographical Sketch:
Of Irish descent. Son of Daniel & Melissa S. (Dexter) McCarthy. Admitted to the bar, 1884. He was elected circuit court commissioner in Gratiot county for the term of 1885-6. He moved to Mio in 1887 and elected prosecuting attorney, 1889-92. Lived in Oscoda Co., 1889-96; moved to Standish, 1896, becoming the prosecuting attorney for Arenac Co., 1899-1900. Served as township clerk for Pine River and as circuit court commissioner. He was prosecuting attorney for 4 years nd a member of the board of examiners for 6. Became prosecuting attorney for Arenac Co., 1898. Held offices in the Michigan State Bar Assoc. Member of the Odd Fellows and the Modern Woodmen of the World.
