Biographical Sketch:
Son of William S. and Rhoda M. (Humiston) Sanderson. In 1857, he came to Michigan with his parents and located on a farm near St. Charles. At 22, he learned the carpenter's trade and conducted lumbering operations. He bought out the hardware store of B. J. Dowing which he operated for 13 years. After 4 years of retirement, he opened a successful dry goods store. He read law two winters, but failing health compelled him to return to the farm, where he engaged extensively in stock raising and farming. He held all the township offices except that of clerk. He was vice president of the State Bank of Saint Charles. Member of the Maccabees and the Masons
