Biographical Sketch:
Son of Jackson J. and Eve (Bastian) Werline. and lucrative patronage in Nadeau and vicinity. He has likewise interests in other localities, being a director in the Stephenson Bank, in Stephenson, MI, and a stockholder in the Menominee River Sugar Company, at Menominee, MI. He began his mercantile career at 18, in Liberty, Tioga county, Pennsylvania, continuing there until 1883 when he moved to Williamsport, PA, and engaged in mercantile pursuits until 1887. In 1888, he came to Michigan on a hunting and fishing trip, and was so pleased with the country and its future possibilities that he decided to locate here. In 1890 he established himself as a hardware merchant at Nadeau, also dealing in real estate and draft horses. He subsequently engaged in the lumber business, erecting a sawmill at Trombly. He was a member of Hall, Werline & Company
