Located in Philadelphia, PA as employee of Philadelphia Ledger, 1861. Enlisted in 71st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Company A, 5/21/1861. Wounded twice at Battle of Ball's Bluff, resulting in loss of right hand, 10/21/1861. Discharged 4/10/1862. Director, Army arsenal in Philadelphia, 1862-65. Located in Port Huron, 1866 and operatied a planing mill. Railroad superintendent for 9 years. Served as alderman and city comptroller in Port Huron. Adjutant General, Soldiers' Home of Grand Rapids, 1895-1910.
