Biographical Sketch:
Son of Seth C. & Emma R. (Linnel) Moffat. His family moved to Northport, MI in 1868. He moved to Traverse City from Northport, 1874. After leaving school at 18, he worked in a bank for 5 yrs. After his father's death, he purchased the abstract books of Grand Traverse Co. & went into business. Elected Register of Deeds, 1898. 1900 & 1902. Attended a Congregational church but was not a member. Member of the Masons.
