Son of Jesse Kellogg and Susanna (Griswold) Kellogg. Worked as a clerk in New York City. He moved to Allegan, MI, in 1837. Delegate to Republican National Convention from Michigan, 1856. Member of Michigan state board of education, 1855-60; associate judge in Allegan Co., 2 years; appointed postmaster in 1841
