Biographical Sketch:
Came to Detroit when young. Appointed pension agent of Indiana in 1821 and he moved to Fort Wayne but later returned to Detroit. In 1832 he was one of the first officers of the Detroit & St. Joseph Railroad. alderman in 1830; director of the Detroit & St. Joseph railroad company in 1835; trustee of the Detroit savings bank; one of the incorporators of the Detroit Merchants' Exchange Co. in 1848; a corporator of the Peninsular bank in 1849; and for many years a forwarding and commission merchant, doing business at the foot of Woodward avenue.
