Biographical Sketch:
Father of Michigan State Rep. Sterling Eaton.
Worked as a newspaper reporter. For nearly fifteen year he was associated with Kalamazoo newspapers in various editorial capacities. In 1916 he was elected sheriff of Kalamazoo county and soon after completing his second term he entered newspaper work in Lansing. In 1923 he was appointed executive secretary to Governor Alex J. Groesbeck and continued in that capacity until the end of Governor Groesbeck's administration. Upon leaving Lansing, he purchased The Northville Record in Wayne county and published it for five years when he sld it and purchased The Plymouth Mail. He has served as president of the Michigan Association of Sheriffs, Prosecuting Attorneys and Chiefs of Police, the Michigan Press Association, The Northville Rotary Club and was president of The Plymouth Chamber of Commerce.
