Biographical Sketch:
Son of Edward and Mary Jane (Smith) Woodruff. Moved with his family at age 12 to Wood Co., OH. There he worked the family farm summers and attended school winters for 4 years. He took over the operation of the farm when his father was incapacitated. After he married, he and his wife moved to Ottawa Co., OH in March, 1881. His first wife and one child died there. In 1882, he remarried. In 1888, he moved to a farm in Bloomfield Twp., Isabella Co., MI. He served as justice of the peace, school inspector and highway commissioner. In 1896, he was a candidate for sheriff.

Notable Facts:
Died of pneumonia and heart disease.
