Biographical Sketch:
Brought to Michigan by his parents, Samuel and Jane Dickinson, in 1856. At age 15, he shipped on board the US revenue cutter Fessenden for 2 years. Upon his release from service, he entered what became his lifelong employment in organ manufacturing, learning the trade at Clough & Warren Organs. In Lexington, MI, he established his own firm, Dickinson & Gould Organ Company. Four years later, he sold his interest in the firm and returned to Detroit to work for Clough & Warren Organ Company. He was innovative and patented many improvements to reed organs and player pianos [or pianolas]. Around 1902, he moved to Cranston and worked for the Aeolian Company which manufactured parlor and church organs and pianolas. He rose to become its superintendent of the experimental division. Around 1921, he moved to Larchmont, NY
