Biographical Sketch:
Son of Jacob R. and Nancy J. (Bush) Dudley. Came to Michigan, 1867. Worked on a farm to pay for his board while attending school in Hastings, MI. Served as principal of Fremont schools in Newaygo Co., 1880-81. Helped his father establish a lumber business. Began manufacturing shingles, 1882, later expanding to become a wholesale dealer in lumber, lath and shingles. In 1892, he handled to the trade 1,676 car loads of forest products.
