Developing Real World Learners 2018 - Level III
In this in-depth course, participants will experience a number of unique learning venues outside of the classroom. Teachers will review and compare facilitation plans that demonstrate how to incorporate critical thinking and experiential learning into their classrooms and own lessons. Experiential learning is a broad term that incorporates any or all of the following: project-based learning; problem-based learning; active and engaged learning; service-learning; inquiry; working with real audiences; internships; community involvement- all of which contribute to global citizenship in the 21st century. Ultimately, travel is one of the best ways to develop global citizens and thus real world learners. Through guided tours and exploration while traveling with students, teachers will be invited to explore ways of incorporating the activities and sites into their curriculum and school programs to create travel “moments” on a smaller scale in their classrooms. Through reflection and discussion of best practices, teachers will develop professional learning goals to enhance their global reach.
