Located in New York City to work for a merchant, 1855. Emigrated to Havana, Cuba; then returned to US, 1858. Located in Saugatuck as bookkeeper for O.R. Johnson & Co., lumber manufacturers, 1871. Naturalized US citizen, 1877. Co-founded Griffin & Henry, lumber and steamboat firm. Served seven terms as village president of Saugatuck and as school board member. Member of Michigan state house of representatives from Allegan County 2nd District, 1893-96.
